New York, New York!

Ahoy maties!

We've been in New York city for a number of days having arrived on Monday. We'll be here till Friday when we head down to Baltimore to visit some friends. And we have yet to take a day to sit and relax in one spot: we've been walking all over the place to see as much as we can of New York.

So far we've been to Prospect Park, Park Slopes, Brooklyn Heights, Ground Zero, Greenwich Village, Soho, Little Italy and Chinatown. We also took the opportunity to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge. This is such a vibrant city... I really like it, but that might be the city boy in me talking ;)

It has been quite enjoyable to travel and meet up with old friends and get to visit their city, especially if it's New York! So far we've had a wonderful time going through the US... very much in contrast to our experiences in Michigan. Yes, you may say "but that's because you're in a big city..." to which there is some truth. But in general, throughout our trip since Portland, MA, we've made friends with a variety of people in random circumstances. Like walking out of a restaurant or on a ferry :)

Websites such as Couch Surfing and AirBnB also add to the opportunities to meet wonderful people who share the smite of the travel bug!

Catching up with Samir after 15 years!
Can you tell I'm enjoying this trip ;)
